Does anyone else think that a Corvette engine in an old 250SE is just wrong?
It’s an old Merc, not a muscle car. I think it should have a smoother engine. Maybe a 1GZ-FE.

Dafuq is going on with those red tube-looking things? Seems like really really bad placement. This whole car is a mess kinda...but I guess it’s probably a fast as hell sleeper???

I think it is kinda cool if it works properly.

I see a lot of things down there that are red which shouldn’t be red.

Yeah it is cool, just the wrong engine for that car.

I think it is a breather hose. Kind of neat as it keeps you from getting blow by in your engine bay.

I think those wheels are worse than the engine.

The most offensive thing there are the wheels. That, and the audio equipment combined with the worn interior. Bad taste combined with very poor priorities shown on an engine swapped project car makes me very wary.

Don’t forget about the rust.

Are you talking about the hole near the front wheel wheel well? I was wondering what that was too. lol

Rust is to be expected in a project car. Not fixing the rust but including those hideously out of place wheels and sound system is something I’ll categorize as ‘very poor priorities’.

I’d say it should at least have been kept an I6.

I’d have gone with an M120 personally.

Not one bit. Torquey + slushy automatic = perfect. Keep it quite with stock-style mufflers and you’d never be able to tell what it is under the hood other than it can get out of its own way.
The travesty is in the execution and the lack of finishing touches. L98 isn’t the right choice, the dash is a mess, it has rust issues, the wheels are a nice try but it would work far better with something a touch more traditional, the interior is a mess, and it’s only done 400 miles since the swap.
Great idea, but horrible execution.

Your definitely right, a chevy crate engine was probably the cheapest/easiest option.

The problem is they did it extremely half ass. I’d say a quarter ass. All they should have done is swap the motor, trans, and steering rack. With those wheels they should have made a set of adapters for modern MB brakes to go with the wheels. If they would have left the interior alone, and kept the factory steering wheel, column, and column shift it would have been more towards the NP range. The dash was gutted and looked bad. I’d hate to replace the missing dash parts. The steering wheel looked terrible for this car as well. It needed the factory wheel not a 70s GM one. Plus all of the body work that needed to be done.....

Should have kept the linkage to the factory column instead of the after market floor mounted one.

At the very least it would be nice to find a way to get the floor shifter from a 280 to work with the 700R4.
If only EssExTee could be so grossly incandescent
